Default HoM related question

Is it worth going past the 30 mark for the HoM? Or should I just stop at 30 once I reach it. I'm just an elite armor set away from it.

The GW2 items stop at 30. If you want to get more displayable titles for your GW2 character then you can go further.

As to the worth of doing it, that decision is up to you.

Unless they add some tangible benefit for getting more than 30 points, I don't feel any need to grind away for it. I'll end up with more than 30 without a single vanquish, cartography, drunk, or any other "grind" title.

If they come back and add some nice reward for getting to 50, then I can always put in the effort to get there. At that point it'll just be titles and weapons that I lack.

Part of me thinks that maybe ANet will add 5 extra items for the Canthan GW2 expansion and 5 for the Elonian one, bringing the total 40/50, but that's just wishful thinking.

30/50 is more than likely all you'll need.

However if there ever does end up being a reason to farm past that, by the time GW2 is out I doubt anyone will really be coming back to GW to farm those longass VQ/Guardian/Explorer titles if they couldn't motivate themselves to do it in the first place.

I flipped a coin, and I can conclude the following:

Yes it is worth it.

It's totally up to you if you want to got to 50 or not. If I were in your shoes, I'd just hit 30 for the GW2 "goodies" and not tie myself down to the grind of getting to 50.

As it stands, I'm at 43/50 and am only concerning myself with getting to 45 for the "Legend of the Mists" title. But that's because I'm already 2 points away and only need a few hero armors & 1 weapon to get there.

The point is, it's up to each individual to decide how far they want to go with their HoM and how far along that person is already plays a factor in their decision.

what's the saying? go big or go home.

Even though it says only titles beyond 30 there isn't anything say that more rewards will be available after 30. So instead of stopping then having to grind it out later to get the additional rewards if they are implemented just do it now and even if they don't release more rewards you get to have all the titles and a sense of total completion.

I would say it's worth it since you get at title in GW2 that you won't be able to obtain otherwise.. I've always been a title hunter, so that might just be me. Don't expect to be more than just a title though,

They have said there will be no rewards after 30 except for titles.

I would say it's all personal preference really. I'm not much for titles, so being at 34/50 is good enough for me. But if titles are your thing, then go for it.

Meh, probably none of it really matters. The item rewards likely won't be much better than stuff you'll be able to easily obtain in game anyway. A lot of them look like things you'll start off with and will want to ditch after a few days of playing anyway. Except for the titles of course. Those will probably be pure e-peen... unless they have some skills get more powerful depending on the title rank. Either way, none of that stuff can be imba, since it would drive off new players if they couldn't get that stuff easily.

If Anet did this they would be stupid. GW2 abilities should not be based on GW1.

When have they proved their intelligence? With game-breaking PvE only skills?

In a perpetual instance, PVE skills like those in GW1 would break the game. GW1 isn't broken in PVE due to these PVE skills, because everyone has the ability to get them. They don't rely on your performance in a totally different game.

Capiche?

Correction, ALL those things will be random lowbie crap you'll start off with.

However, buying $30-$50 worth of Transmutation Stones in the GW2 cash shop will allow one to eventually imbue them all with leet endgame item stats, so theoretically you could equip your Lvl 80 Tauren Shaman with all that swag.

And here I thought the Transmultions would be a new summoning stone in GW2 well damn.

But yeah as others have said. It's really up to you. I went to the rank I went to solely for OCD's sake.
If you only care about shiny items go to 30 if you like one of the titles and it's only a few more points go for that.

Q: How much will transmutation stones cost? Will they be available outside of the in-game store?

Eric: We haven???t finalized the pricing structure on transmutation stones. We???re not certain at this time whether or not transmutation stones will be available outside of the in-game store. Philosophically we believe that players should have a way to acquire items like transmutation stones through the course of playing the game and not just through purchase in the in-game store. We???ll talk in greater detail about how we plan to accomplish this when we arrive at a final paradigm.
http://www.arena.net/blog/john-and-e...loot-questions

So we can't be sure that t-stones will be available ingame, but Anet is looking into it.

If you are still having fun doing stuff to get beyond 30, then keep doing it. If its getting to be a grind then stop.
